These two are the first original characters I drew more than once. They sparked from a project in high school, the prompt was to create a "photography" depicting "generosity". We were allowed to create anything image-based for the project. This is where I decided to practice my illustration skills and create "The Girl and the Spirit".
Following this, we had another brief where the word was "Safety". It was at this point I started to mentally lay down the storyline for my characters.
The girl has been left by her parents in a forest because they couldn't provide for her. It's autumn and the girl is crying in her crib. A spirit spots her, the Autumn spirit.
He approaches her but accidentally scares her making him jump and hide.
The spirit decides to go to the human village nearby to find a mask so he won't scare the girl.
After, the girl now doesn't find the spirit scary anymore so he takes care of her.
We follow them as the girl slowely grows up and the other season spirits judges the Autumn spirit.
They know he is sacrificing his life energy to force himself through the other seasons that are not his.
This is a short summary of what I envisioned the story being if I ever created the whole story. I'm leaving the ending out to have some mystery left. I am going to keep this in my portfolio to show storytelling, illustrative skills and symbolism, but also to keep adding to it if I create more for my first characters. Maybe one day I'll get together with a writer and collab on a project.
